Once upon a time, but not
so long ago, everyone in Marietta, GA was
going about their daily business. Sellers were selling, shoppers
were shopping and kids, well, they were being kids.
Everything was as normal as could be. Except at the Baker household.
Because Karen and Ken were busily preparing for
the arrival of the newest member of the Baker family. |

As Ken expertly
prepared yet another meal, he was as ready as anyone could ever
be.
The bag was packed and by the door. Telephone numbers were written and alternate
routes to the hospital were memorized. He was ready for anything.
Anything that is, except what he heard next: "Ken,
I think its time", Karen exclaimed ! |

Meanwhile, across town, Dr. Nancy
Cook was busy at work. As she carefully checked each patient,
she knew there was going to be something very different about
today.
She didn't know exactly why she had this feeling; she just knew something special
was about to happen. |

On the way to Piedmont
Hospital, Ken was deep in thought, reflecting on how dramatically
their lives were about to change.
"I can't believe this. Pretty soon, I'll be a Dad. Before
you know it, we'll be playing ball, building a tree house,
or going fishing!"

At exactly 11:00
P.M. on December 16, 1949, William Bradford Baker registered
his arrival into the world with as much commotion as his tiny 17
inches and 7 pounds 2 ounces could muster.
" Yeow!! What's that?" young Brad thought,
reacting to all the bright lights and strange noises.
" Where am I? Who are these people?"
|
|
 |
As Brad looked
around the room, he quickly discovered the reason for all the excitement.
They had visitors! And each baby was doing it's very best to get
their own family's attention.
Looking over the crowd, it didn't take Brad long
to pick out his visitors. "Must be the ones making the funny faces," Brad thought.
“ Hey! That must be my big sister Kirsten”, Brad exclaimed! |
